We celebrate all successes and achievements

What does this mean?

  • If it’s important to the children it’s important to us
  • We value every step each person makes
  • We all celebrate those steps together
  • It's not who you are, it's what you do that matters

What might this look like?

  • We celebrate everyone’s achievements at weekly well done assemblies
  • We reward children in many ways for all kinds of things: Dojo points, merits, free time, certificates sent home, but most importantly, with praise and love for a good choice
  • We sanction poor choices in a way that enables children to be reflective of the consequences of their actions
  • We encourage children (and staff) to share their achievements from outside school so we can celebrate with them
  • We encourage the children to support each other in celebrating successes, through marking each other’s work, cheering each other on at sporting or arts events or simply saying well done!

We learn from our mistakes

What does this mean?

  • The issue is the issue, not the person
  • We use mistakes as a means of furthering our understanding
  • We support everyone in taking risks with learning and teaching
  • We use mistakes as tools to aim high
  • Getting it wrong is a step towards getting it right

What might this look like?

  • We encourage investigation and trial and improvement in our activities
  • Children are set targets that challenge and then we support them in aiming to achieve those targets
  • We use problem-solving within our curriculum
  • We encourage the children to support each other in building resilience through the overcoming of obstacles, talking through problems and working together

We make school happy, safe and welcoming

What does this mean?
