PE and Sports Funding
What are we spending the funding on?
At Poplar Street Primary, we utilise the PE Sports Grant in a number of ways:
1. Hiring specialist PE teachers or qualified sports coaches to work with primary teachers when teaching PE
2. Paying for professional development opportunities for teachers in PE and sport – Members of staff are attending Continual Professional Development schemes.
3. Running/entering sport competitions, or increasing pupils’ participation in the School Games – Poplar Street Primary has a number of different sports teams and are very pleased with the results they bring back! We use the budget to pay supply teachers for covering class teachers taking children to tournaments.
4. Buying quality assured professional development modules or materials for PE and sport – We are in the process of purchasing a new school team kit, as well as spare clothing for children who have not brought their own. We continue to spend money on upgrading our PE equipment and PE Schemes of work, and are constantly assessing what we have and what we require to help facilitate top quality P.E. lessons.
